Swedish Massage

We hope everyone is having a wonderful start to their weekend! to start off this Splendid Saturday routine we're going to discuss one of the most common types of massage: Swedish Massage!

According to WebMD, Swedish Massage is a type of massage therapy that involves long, kneading strokes that are more gentle. It also involves light, rhythmic, tapping strokes on the muscles that sit closer to the surface. Swedish Massage is usually coupled with the movement of the joints to relieve pressure. The relief of muscle tension is both relaxing and energizing, while also giving the possibility to help manage the pain of an injury.

Four basic types of strokes are used in Swedish Massage, those include: Effleurage, Petrissage, Friction, and Tapotement. These movements are what make Swedish Massage so unique- and so popular! If you've ever gotten a massage, chances are that it was a Swedish Massage and you might not have even known it!
